THE DETAILS

Choose video quality and format: what to know

Start with the source, not the label

Every post has its own uploaded footage and platform renditions. The downloader can display only the formats it can access for that status, so a 720p or 1080p option may be absent even when another clip offers it. A higher resolution cannot restore detail lost in a soft recording or low-bitrate source.

Balance detail against storage

Resolution, duration, bitrate, and compression all affect file size. A smaller option can be practical for a phone or a limited data connection; higher definition may be useful for a large display when available. Review actual sizes when shown and leave room for temporary downloads. Avoid selecting a large file merely because its number is higher.

Treat MP4 as a container

MP4 is a file container, while a codec describes how video or audio is encoded inside. Most current devices play common MP4 streams, but older software may have compatibility limits. If your selected file fails, confirm the transfer completed and try a current player or another listed format. Renaming an extension is not format conversion.

Troubleshoot unavailable quality options

A missing resolution is usually a source-availability issue, not a display setting. Make sure the post is public and contains an ordinary video, then refresh the format request. Fresh uploads may still be processing; rate limits can also interrupt extraction. Choose among the options actually offered and keep the original post URL if the issue persists.

03

Check the result

Save one supported option and verify playback with a compatible player.

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions

Answers about choose video quality and format.

Is 1080p always better than 720p?

It contains more pixels when available, but may cost more space and cannot repair weak source detail.

Does MP4 tell me the video resolution?

No. MP4 names a container; resolution is a separate property of the stream.

Why does one post offer fewer formats than another?

Source uploads and platform processing determine which renditions can be retrieved.

Can I make an unavailable quality appear?

No. The downloader cannot invent a missing source rendition without changing the video.

What should I pick for a phone?

Choose a listed size that looks adequate on your screen and fits storage and data limits.
